Purple Prairie Clover
(Dalea purpurea) Bright purple blossoms mid-summer through fall. Stunning when planted with Butterflyweed, Black-Eyed Susan, and any of the shorter prairie grasses. An important prairie legume that fixes nitrogen in the soil. Grows 1-3' tall on most well-drained soils ranging from dry sand to clay. Perennial. Hardy to zone 4.
Evening Sun Sunflower
Large flowers in shades of orange, red, and burgundy. Very dark center. Multiple heads and an extended bloom period make this a great variety for cutting. Plants grow 6-8' tall. Annual, 75 days.
Purple Coneflower
Purple flower bracts are highly attractive to bees and butterflies! The leaves are aromatic and citrus-flavored. Crush or rub the leaves and enjoy its distinctive citrus or lemony scent. Use leaves for flavoring in salads, cooked foods, and for tea. Plants grow to 24-30 inches tall. Self-seeding annual.
Lemon Mint
Purple flower bracts are highly attractive to bees and butterflies! The leaves are aromatic and citrus-flavored. Crush or rub the leaves and enjoy its distinctive citrus or lemony scent. Use leaves for flavoring in salads, cooked foods, and for tea. Plants grow to 24-30 inches tall. Self-seeding annual.
Butterflyweed
(Asclepias tuberosa) This showy native wildflower does well in poor, dry soils and blooms from June through August, providing long-lasting color in your garden. The flowers are an important nectar source for Monarchs, and the leaves provide essential food for caterpillars. Perennial and hardy to zone 4.
Bee Feed Mix
This very colorful early-, mid-, and late-blooming flower mix benefits pollinators all season long. An extraordinary blend of annual and perennial flowers yields nectar and pollen for wild bees, honey bees, and other pollinators, and is suitable for short-tongued and long-tongued bees. Sow in maintained landscapes such as garden beds, borders, and managed meadows.
